Add

Across the street
between cars and people
you were seated on the sidewalk
just seated
without moving
not even blinking
staring into space
not minding the noises from the outside

Where were you
floating in your tank top
and your too large jeans
in a meadow
in a spaceship
in the shadow of an oak

And for a moment
I wanted to bring you back
to this city
to this sidewalk
so I could tell you everything I know about
owls
the glowing grass early in the morning
and how
sometimes
my words become too small for all the hazy places my mind goes to

My hands began rubbing each other
and as I was walking towards you
you disappeared
or maybe I did

I don’t know
ti was a strange day

Ieri

Written in English by Alice Kübler

Translated into Italian by Ann Schönenberg

Dall’altra parte della strada
tra le automobili e i passanti
eri seduta sul marciapiede
solo seduta
senza muoverti
senza battere ciglio
lo sguardo perso
indifferente ai rumori intorno a te

Dove eri
a galleggiare nella tua canottiera
e i tuoi jeans larghi
in un prato
in un’astronave
all’ombra di una quercia

E un attimo
ho voluto riportarti
in questa città
su questo marciapiede
per raccontarti tutto quello che so sui
gufi
li luccichio dell’erba del primo mattino
e come
a volte
le mie parole non sono sufficienti per tutti i luoghi nebulosi
in cui mi porta al mente

Le mie mani hanno iniziato a sfregare l’una contro l’altra
e quando ho camminato verso di te
sei scomparsa
o forse ero io

Non lo so
È stato un giorno strano
